The Perfect Wine Pairings for Thanksgiving Dinner

The Thanksgiving dinner table is packed with so many good things to eat, it can be hard to know where to start. But there’s one thing you should never forget – wine! A glass of wine goes well with just about everything on the holiday menu, but how do you choose which wines are the best for your meal? Here are some of our favorite pairings that will make this year’s Thanksgiving memorable.

We’ve compiled a list of a few of our favorite wines to pair with a traditional Thanksgiving dinner to give you a little inspiration when you’re planning your own holiday meal. The most important thing to remember when it comes to pairing is there are no wrong answers!

General Rules of Thumb

When it comes to pairing there are two general ways to approach it. First, you can pair a wine with a dish with similar flavor profiles. This will elevate that characteristic in both but may mask some of the other flavors. The other approach is to complement opposite flavor profiles, for example pairing a bright, crisp Dry Riesling with a savory, heavy plate of turkey, stuffing, potatoes, and gravy. The brilliant, tart acidity will cleanse the palate of the heavier tastes and provide contrast to engage all of your taste buds. No matter which approach you choose the end result will be magnificent because when you have good food and good wine you can never go wrong!

2019 BB Select

Our Bourbon Barrel Select (BB Select) utilizes the newest way to experience red wine: Bourbon barrel aging. This special wine, vinted from Cabernet Sauvignon, was aged in authentic Woodford Reserve bourbon barrels originally used for aging bourbon. This technique adds flavors of vanilla and oak, black fruit, and hints of baking spice. A bold red, it pairs well with game such as turkey.
