A Wine Lovers Guide to Valentines Day

Events and Experiences

Plan a Weekend Stay in Wine Country

If you really want to wine and dine this Valentine’s Day, why not consider planning a weekend stay in your favorite, or a new, wine region? There are plenty of charming inns and bed-and-breakfasts tucked away among the vineyards, and most offer some great packages for couples looking to celebrate. You can spend your days touring wineries and enjoying tastings, then come back to your cozy room each night to relax by the fire. What could be more romantic?

Yadkin Valley Wine Country, home of RayLen Vineyards, is nestled in the foothills of the Blue Ridge Mountains. The Yadkin Valley became North Carolina’s first federally-approved American Viticultural Area (AVA) in 2003. With this designation, the wineries and vineyards of this area cover all or part of Surry, Yadkin, Wilkes, Davie, Davidson, Forsyth, and Stokes counties began labeling their wines “Yadkin Valley,” proudly proclaiming the fruits of this region.

Visit a Local Winery for an Afternoon Tasting

Another fun way to enjoy Valentine’s Day is by spending time at a local winery. Many wineries offer special tastings on Valentine’s Day, so you can sip on some delicious wines while learning more about the winemaking process. If you want to make it extra special, check the vineyard’s policies about bringing outside food. You may be able to plan a special picnic lunch of your loved one’s favorite foods and snacks!

Create an At-Home Experience

If you’d like to celebrate Valentine’s Day at home, why not try creating an intimate wine-themed experience for yourself and your loved one? Start by picking out a bottle of your favorite wine and opening it up together. Then, set the mood with some soft music and light candles. You can either prepare a special dinner or order in from your favorite restaurant. And don’t forget to end the night with a glass of wine (or two) to toast to love!

Attend a Chocolate and Wine Pairing

If you love chocolate just as much as you love wine, a chocolate and wine pairing is the perfect way to celebrate Valentine’s Day. This is a great opportunity to learn about how different wines can enhance the flavors of chocolate, and it’s sure to be a fun experience for all involved.

We are excited to be hosting a wine and chocolate truffle pairing event on Saturday, February 12th 2022. A ticket purchase includes 4 chocolate truffles each paired with one of our award-winning wines. Learn more about the event here.
