Chris Habershaw

Vintner Team

Chris helps with winemaking as well as various jobs around the RayLen estate. He is a new member of the RayLen Vintner Team and looks forward to working alongside his brother, Micah. Prior to joining RayLen, Chris worked as an apprentice at Winsor Run Cellars in Hamptonville, NC, where he deepened his knowledge of the production of wines, meads, and distilled spirits.

Originally from Roaring River, NC, Chris is a graduate of East Wilkes High School and a 20-year veteran of the United States Marine Corps, where he served as an aviation electrician. During Chris’ military service, his brother Micah started his career in the wine industry, which led to many discussions about Chris’ plans after retirement. While deployed, he began visiting wineries and vineyards in North Carolina, Southern California, and various countries, and started researching what was involved in the production of wine. Chris was hooked after purchasing a home winemaking kit and seeing the work involved to create a finished product. After his retirement, Chris received a degree in Viticulture and Enology Technology from Surry Community College. Outside of RayLen, he loves to travel with his wife Coral, daughter Harper and their Airedale Terrier Buddha, and enjoys the great outdoors.

When not planning events, Alyssa loves to spend her time with her husband and two kids creating new adventures and memories as a family. Micah Habershaw

General Manager

Micah grew up in Roaring River, North Carolina, and returned to the area after leaving his beloved East Carolina University and several years living in the heart of Virginia wine country. Prior to joining the team at RayLen Vineyards and Winery, he spent 7 years as an Assistant Tasting Room Manager, Wholesale Brand Rep, and Cellar Rat for another area vineyard cultivating his love for great food, great wine, and hospitality. Active in his community, Micah is actively serving as a board member for Youth Hockey in Greensboro and also serves on the Davie County Tourism Advisory Board. When not at work he enjoys exploring new restaurants and wineries, content creation, spending time with friends and family, riding his motorcycle, and above all, HOCKEY. He lives in nearby Clemmons with his wife Brittany, two sons Embry and Rowyn, and their two yorkies, Coach and Enzo.

Lori Hollingsworth

Assistant Tasting Room Manager

Lori is a NC native who enjoys exploring all that the state offers. When she is not in the Tasting Room, you can find her visiting other vineyards, dining at new and old restaurants, or going on adventures with her family and Duncan, her long-haired dachshund.  Her greatest vintages are her two sons and two grands. Her passion for connectivity, hospitality, merchandising, food, and wine are among a few favorites shared at RayLen Vineyards.

Josh Litten

Wholesale Brand Rep

Josh is a NC native who has spent the last 10 years working with RayLen Vineyards. Josh has studied everything from accounting to zookeeping during his college career and has amassed three degrees along the way. He has multiple rescue pets and would one day like to have a farm for the ones he does not have room for now. Josh has spent years working in restaurants and applies this knowledge to his job as Wholesale Brand Rep with RayLen Vineyards.

Francisco Montellano

Vineyard Manager

Francisco is RayLen’s Vineyard Manager. Part of our Vintner Team, his responsibilities include maintaining the vineyard and estate grounds and assisting with winery/cellar operations as needed. Francisco can and does work in any part of the job and his work speaks for itself – RayLen has some of the best and oldest vines in the area.

Originally from Mexico, Francisco joined RayLen in 2001 bringing with him agricultural experience from previous jobs including a local winery where he worked for 14 years. Francisco likes making wine more than drinking it and enjoys working with his fantastic crew and co-workers at RayLen.

Steve Shepard

Steve was RayLen’s winemaker for over 20 years, and was responsible for the oversight of RayLen’s 35-acre vinifera vineyard and the production of around 7,500 cases of RayLen wine annually before his retirement in 2023. His winemaking career started in Pennsylvania after graduating from Delaware Valley University and has been making wine commercially since 1980. Steve worked at several wineries in Pennsylvania including Buckingham Valley Vineyards, Bucks County Vineyards, and Shuster Cellars, before an opportunity in North Carolina’s Yadkin Valley region lured him south in 1989. Steve was recognized by Robert Parker for his 1991 vintage wines with scores ranging from 85 – 89 points.

Steve joined RayLen Vineyards & Winery, a start-up operation at the time, as winemaker in 2000. In the first three vintages, RayLen Vineyards won over 100 medals at various statewide, regional, and international competitions, and continues to win awards today. A charter member of the Yadkin Valley American Viticulture Area (AVA), RayLen joined in the early 2000’s when there were only four other wineries in the area. Steve has served on the Board for the North Carolina Grape Council since 1990, and The North Carolina Winegrowers Association since 1992.
